Adding New application/front end /sql server into existing farm

15 April 2012 6:58Hi All,
Presently my SharePoint Farm 2010 is one-application server, one- web front end server and one- sql server. I planned to make it as cluster environment. (i.e.) 2 app, 2 wfe and 2 sql.
I have an idea like taking the vhd of existing (wfe, app and sql) and cloning into another empty server. then running the configuration wizard and removing the unwanted service application in anyone of the server to act as master and another one is slave.
Will it be suitable and can some one suggest me on this.

Hi,
you can scale out the farm by installing new fresh server and then join them to the existing farm.

For SQL, you'll have to install from scratch as you can't convert a stand alone installation of SQL into a SQL cluster member.http://sharepoint.nauplius.net
