    Hi,

    Current expectation is we have to create crawl component as shared role on the server.

    I am aware of creating crawl component with dedicated role i.e nothing assign dedicated server to crawl component in Serach Topology of Central Administration.

    But I am not sure of crawl component with shared.Please let me know your suggestions/inputs on the same.Thanks in advance

    If you have a topology consisting of dedicated Web Front End Servers and Application servers, you could host the crawl component on the application server assuming that you are able to reach sites from app servers. The crawl component can be hosted on a WFE but one of the recommendations is to have a dedicated WFE for crawling so that crawling during business hours doesn't bring down the WFE.
