    Hi,

    Please read the question 8 of the FAQ:

    Frequently Posted Questions and Answers
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/systemcenter/thread/c44515cb-fb8b-4472-a3d4-a17fa6729a03/

    Please make sure you followed exactly those steps. By the way, I would suggest reinstalling SCE on a fresh Windows Server 2003.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

    First of all, thank you.
    I followed steps described in part 8 of FAQ, but the error is still exists. I didn't find key WmsdeInstalled in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Update Services\Server\Setup\, but i created REG_DWORD key with value of 0.

    Now i'm trying to run Essentials Reports called "Hardware inventory" and i have this error:

    Date: 16.04.2009 12:17:02
    Application: System Center Essentials
    Application Version: 6.0.1885.0
    Severity: Error
    Message: Cannot initialize report.

    Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) ---> Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Cannot create a connection to data source 'WSUSDatabase'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) ---> Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Cannot open database "SUSDB" requested by the login. The login failed.
    Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\Admininstrator'.
       --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
       --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
       at Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ServerReport.GetExecutionInfo()
       at Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ServerReport.GetParameters()
       at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Reporting.Parameters.ReportParameterBlock.Initialize(ServerReport serverReport)
       at Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Mom.Internal.UI.Console.ReportForm.SetReportJob(Object sender, ConsoleJobEventArgs args)
    Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Cannot create a connection to data source 'WSUSDatabase'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection) ---> Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Cannot open database "SUSDB" requested by the login. The login failed.
    Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\Administrator'.
       --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
    Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportServerException: Cannot open database "SUSDB" requested by the login. The login failed.
    Login failed for user 'DOMAIN\Administrator'.

    Using SQL Server Management Studio Express connecting to %computername%\SCE i can see succesfully attached SUSDB database, so it looks fine but still errors.

    Hello AVinogradov,

    If this issue still exist, did you re-install the SCE server on a fresh-installed Windows 2003 Server? This will avoid most of the errors about SUSDB.

    Thanks,

    Hello Yog Li,

    I have production SCE (upgraded from WSUS). Is it possible to use the product without a reinstall on a clean system? Why upgrade from WSUS to SCE available if it doesn't work? Such errors indicate that the product is under beta.

    Thanks.

    Hi Yog Li,

    Unfortunately support.microsoft.com works for money only. So, there is no way to use SCE 2007 for 30 days for free, because it is not functional.

    Thank you anyway.
