Locked Windows 7 SP1 installation was not successful

    I tried to install SP1 on my windows 7 32 bit several times. I also reinstalled windows 7 using recovery media but this also did not work. I got an error window saying installation was not successful and Error: E_FAIL(0x80004005). I have two OS in the computer and am using GRUB as a boot loader. Is this the cause of the problem?

      Hi,

      to see the cause of failures with Windows 7 updates / Service Packs, we must look for error messages in the file CBS.log.

      Please run the Windows Explorer and go to the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" and copy all "CBS" files to your document folder (otherwise you can't upload it), zip all files and upload the zip to your SkyDrive [1] and post a link here.

        mdmgreen, have you given up on installing the RC? I'm curious to see if GRUB could be the cause of problems. I have a few questions that should help determine the issue for either for the RC or for when the RTM goes out.
