New task bar has its pluses and minuses.  A minus is the amount of space allowed between each icon.  Is there anyway to decrease the space on there so it can hold more icons???

The space only looks big because they are sitting on buttons which need to "light up".

Have you tried to use Small Icons?

    Hi Alex,

I'm fine with the space now in this new mode, obviously the old mode may not ever be fixed as it were but that's ok since I think now what it needs is a choice between displaying the icon irrespective of whether the task is "open" or not and at a similar width not for the sake of the words, as well not to move around and stay in the one set place would be nice I think.

    Thank you

Alex, I concur with Bob.  I need an option to turn off the extra padding, at the very minimum for the pinned icons.   I tried small icons, and it still takes up waaaay too much space.   I could see needing this on a tablet, but im not using one.

Hi there, yes have tried the small icons but still the spacing is too much.  If there is an option to make the spacing suit the user that would be a benefit to the O/S for sure in my humble opinion...

I agree if it was not using small icons. But with small icons, it looks better. Large icons is horrible, esp if you are using classic theme !! also instead of opening a new box for notification icons, it would be better with the old fashion expanding side ways..

The only way to make the icons LOOK closer (they are already nearly touching) is to shave down the width of the buttons the graphic sits on. But then it would be harder to tell whether they are "lit up". Get it?

Something could be done but seriously, if you have a wide-screen monitor there is no issue.

The buttons are larger so they are easier to use with a touch screen.

You know, that thing what 0.00001% of PC users have.

Thats a good thing, IF you have a touch screen yes.  Glad to know this but I don't have one, and have a pretty accurate rodent that can hit the smallest of icons LOL.  I would like the option to decide the padding between the icons please...

OK, on wide display it's maybe ok.. but what about us, notebook users? Thats why i love MacOS-X Dock, becouse the icons are arranged really close one to each other and if you are looking for some particular program, the icons went larger, if you want to... i know it will be tooo much "copy" but its just simple and sooo practical.

Btw i love pinig frequently used program to my tak bar, but whet we (you) are going to remove taskba icon, the small ones (notification icons....) i think with this kind of new task bar we don not need it any more!
