I have a hyper-v cluster with 4 nodes (Windows 2008 R2) but i'd like to remove one of the nodes to be used somewhere else. Am I right in thinking I need to:
Remove all vm's running on the machine to another
Evict the machine from the cluster
Run validate this cluster
Thanks

Thank you for your replies, we don't have SCVMM, only Failover Cluster Manager. Will the networks side sort itself out, i.e. the heartbeat?
thanks

Hello,
Yes the cluster will sort itself out on the network side. One thing you need to take care of with Windows 2008 R2 is to change the quorum model to the one best suited for you number of nodes after removing one of them. The GUI will suggest the best one. If you want to read up on those look here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770620(v=ws.10).aspx and http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731739.aspx.
Hope this helps,
