I recently have been unable to use IE9 to load a website critical to my job. When I browse to the website, I get the following warning box:
Internet Explorer blocked this website from installing and ActiveX control.
There is an install button on that warning box, which I click and then get a security warning pop-up:
The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to install this software?
I click install and the website fails to load without further messages.
Troubleshooting steps I've tried so far (listed in chronological order):
- Checked for updates on Windows Update (none)
- Reinstalled Adobe Flash
- Enabled compatibility view
- Cleared everything under "browsing history"
- Added to Trusted Sites list
- Disabled internet security software
- Disabled all add-ons
- Reset all internet settings
How do I figure out why IE is blocking this site?
I suppose the first thing I would try is,
Use the F12 key and click on Browser mode and click on ie8,
If that failed use Alt+T and see if active x filtering is checked, if so uncheck it,
Go to internet options, and the security section, Custom level button,
Scroll down and Enable Mixed content, apply and okay.
Possibly even Uncheck the box for Protection mode.
Close and open a new ie9 window, make sure active x filtering/ inprivate browsing/ Tracking protection is not checked again when you go to the site.
Remove it from your trusted sites list.

Thanks for the quick reply. I followed your suggestions and the site still will not load. The only difference now is the security warning pop-up doesn't ask me if I'm sure I want to install and instead says:
Windows has blocked this software because it can't verify the publisher.
Thank you again for the quick reply. My original question was how do I figure out why IE is blocking this site? This website works with FF and Chrome on my computer.
