How to remove the "Favorites Star" icon in the Internet Explorer 8?

    Question

  • One of my client want to remove all *bar* on the Internet Explorer (e.g. Favorites bar, Status bar, Command bar, Tab bar, Menu bar and search bar). It can easily by right-clicking on IE or registry to disable them, however, it left the "Favorites Star" icon on the IE 8 and it can't be removed or disabled, I think MS IE designer may overlook the issue and I try to search from internet got no resolution about it. My client only want a simply and "Single-Address-Bar" browser for his daily work, the extra button make the unnecessary bar on the IE.

    Can anyone dad this experience before? Thanks

  • Problem resolved!

    For
    IE7 & IE8, it requires to disable the whole toolbar function in order to achieve this issue

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbars\Restrictions]
    "NoCommandBar"=dword:00000001

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    PS:
    For IE 7, Command bar need to be removed by registry

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\CommandBar]
    "Enabled"=dword:00000000
