Internet Explorer 8 and JavaScript

    Pregunta

  • Starting yesterday, 3/26/12, my clients are having trouble with Javascript.

I have narrowed down what is going on, but not why.

Everytime they open Internet Explorer 8, the security settings for the Internet Zone reset and disable scripting.

This doesn't seem to happen to Internet Explorer 9 users.   But I still have 75% of my users on XP SP3, so IE 9 is not a solution.

I have tried making a GPO and forcing custom settings on them, but it doesn't seem to be solving the problem, or I did it wrong.

Because I run WSUS internally, and I know when updates are scheduled, I know that Sunday, we installed the most recent Microsoft Patches.   Was there any patch recently that might have caused this issue?

We run Trend Micro Antivirus, but I don't think it would do this.

Except for teaching my users how to re-enable scripting every time they open IE8, does any body have any suggestions?

  • GPO setting for Security Zones - or I did it wrong - probably....

Everytime they open Internet Explorer 8, the security settings for the Internet Zone reset and disable scripting.

the default security zone templates are set from GPO.

Confirm this on the client by first manually resetting the Active scripting value (Custom button on the Internet Options Security tab) and then clicking the "Reset all zones to default" button and then inspecting the Active scripting value again...
