    Hi,

whichever number I configure in the process count setting, Antigen for Exchange 2003 starts 2 - 3 processes. Is this behavior by design?
Does anybody know the relevant registry key in order to check this setting?

    Kind regards,
    Dagmar

    Hi Dagmar,

There are actually 2 different process count settings; found in the General Options panel of the Antigen Administrator. They correspond to registry values in the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Sybari Software\Antigen for Exchange key as follows:

General Option Registry Value Default Max Process Name
    Internet Process Count InternetProcessCount 2 10 AntigenInternet.exe
    Realtime Process Count RealtimeProcessCount 2 4 AntigenRealtime.exe

If we imagine that you have 4 Storage Groups and also have the MTA and SMTP services running, you should see a total of 11 scanning processes in Task Manager:
    2 x 1 SMTP scanjob = 2 x AntigenInternet.exe
    2 x 4 Storage Groups on the Realtime scanjob = 8 x AntigenRealtime.exe
    1 x 1 MTA scanjob = 1 x AntigenRealtime.exe

Note: There is always just 1 process available for the MTA scanjob (the 'Realtime Process Count' value does not apply to the MTA scanjob).

If this doesn't help you at all, you might want to try to decipher any errors in the main Antigen troubleshooting log: programlog.txt. This is found in the Antigen install folder (e.g. %Program Files%\Microsoft Antigen for Exchange). Failing that, I would recommend opening a Support Case with CSS (Customer Service and Support).

    Kind Regards,
