Hi,
I would like to whether i can manage Mac OS X through SCCM 2012? I know with the help of Quest management extension i can achieve this. if do through SCCM 2012, can i do the patch management, Hardware&software inventory & reporting?

At RTM, 2012 will natively support Windows OSes only along with WIndows Mobile (not Windows Phone) and Symbian although using thr Exchange ActiveSync connector, management of all ActiveSyn capable devices is also possible -- this is known as light management.
At MMS 2011, native Unix management was discussed and demoed also. This will come sometime after RTM.
No native OSX support has ever been discussed but given the direction of expanded management capabilities and Microsoft's continued inclusion of non-Microsoft OSes and devices to support heterogeneous environments, I would say its not unreasonable to think something may come sooner or later but there is no guarentee and your best bet is to continue to work with a third-party like Quest to provide this support in 2007 and 2012.
