Validate access rights with FIM 2010 R2

  • Hi, I am new with FIM.  I wan't to know if it's possible with FIM 2010 R2 to validate access rights for a specific folders on a file server ?

  • Short answer....no.

    Longer answer....yes, but only if you have a way of first getting the data about the server, the folder, and rights themselves for all the objects you'll validate against.

    Obviously all this info has to be somewhere in FIM for you to do validation.....so that means custom objects all around.

    Secondly....you then have to custom write an activity with code....or use a powershell WF activity....which you can find on codeplex to actually reach out and touch the folder somehow.  Once that Powershell has queried the folder and receive data, then you can "validate" against the known objects you built in FIM.

    Difficult at best.
