Hi, I have an Exchange 2007 SP1 environmnet and I need to deploy Exchange 2010 SP2 servers into the organisation. It is not possible to upgrade the existing 2007 SP1 servers to Exchange 2007 SP2 due to the current setup and dependancy on services. What is the actual requirement to upgrade (other than outlook auto-discover and domain/schema prep) to SP2?
I ahve already run the required domain/schema preparation tools successfully.
Lastly what implications if any are there to installing Exchange 2010 SP2 in an existing Exchange 2007 SP1 organisation?
Thanks

The Exchange 2010 installation should fail because that is not a supported combination. All Exchange 2007 servers need to be at SP2 level at least. The fact that you have run the prep tools is immaterial - Exchange shouldn't allow you to install.
Therefore the rest of your question is of no-consequence because you cannot install Exchange 2010 in to somewhere with Exchange 2007 SP1. Whatever the dependancy is should really be corrected because Exchange 2007 SP1 is no longer supported.

Hi Sembee, thanks for your reply. I will attempt to upgrade the existing servers. We are migrating to Exchange 2010 and wont be keeping any Exchange 2007 servers in the organisation so I was hoping there may have been a work around.
Thanks

Hi Russco1,
We need have sp2 installed on Exchange 2007 if we want to install Exchange 2010 into the Exchange orgnization. That is the requirement.
What's New in Exchange Server 2007 SP2
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee221150(v=exchg.80).aspx
You can deploy Exchange Server 2010 in your organization once all of the Client Access servers in your organization have been upgraded to Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2). In addition, any Exchange 2007 Server, regardless of server role, in the Active Directory site you are transitioning, must be upgraded to Exchange 2007 SP2.
