    Hi Guys,

    Domain A --> Migrate to Domain B

    Before migration:
On domain A there is a mailbox: User@domainA.fr
On domain B there is a contact: User@domainA.fr

My UserFI who's been migrated from domainA to domainB has created private distribution list (he gots users contacts and users mailbox)
Example: Private List name is "Marketing"
    There are 5 persons: User1@domainA.com, User2@domainA.com, User3@domaineB.com, User4@domainB.com, User5@domainB.com
    User1 and User2 are contacts

User1 is on domainA and now he's migrated to domainB (the contact is deleted and mailbox is created/migrated)
My UserFI who had created the private distribution list will loose his contact User1@domainA.com because he will not exist anymore.

I'd like to know if there is a way to figure out this "problem"... the UserFI do NOT have to modify his private distribution list?

Does anyone have an idea? Maybe create a mailbox that will forward the mail to domainA? (I don't know exactly if it's possible)

    Thx

    Hi,

It is possible to create a mailbox and have this mailbox forward all mails to a mailbox in another domain.

Create the user with mailbox and set the targetaddress parameter (can be seen with adsiedit) as smtp:user@domainA.fr

In this way the mails will not be marked as forwarded mails, but seen as sent from the original sender.

This method with targetAddress works beautifully. One additional benefit is that you don't have to create Contacts for forwarding. We use it quite a lot with linked mailboxes. These mailboxes basically act as routing objects until the users are finally migrated. In order to make reply work, we add the X.500 address, but this should not be an issue in the above scenario.

I've tried and it didn't work... I have just few questions

User from DomainA will be migrated to domainB

I've created my mailbox on domainB User.Test
    User.Test has 2 smtp addresses:
    User.Test@exchange.domainB.com
User.Test@domainA.com (this is the mail address which is used on domainA)

I modified attribute in adsiedit (targetaddress) I put smtp:User.Test@domainA.com

When I tried to send a mail to User.Test@domainA.com from Outlook with another user on domainB, it returned an error... The mail could not be sent... the organization refused your message.
