Nvlddmkm.sys error BSOD Windows 7 after updating NVIDIA Driver

Unanswered Nvlddmkm.sys error BSOD Windows 7 after updating NVIDIA Driver

    Hi guys,

So I recently upgraded to Windows 7 x64 from Vista and ever since I have been unable to load the updated driver for NVidia GeForce Go 7600.

When I do and I restart it i get the light blue vertical lines on the screen and then it goes to BSOD and I get a Nvlddmkm.sys error along with "Page_Fault_In_Nonpaged_Area" and I have to run system restore to go back to before I downloaded the updated driver.

I've been searching and searching on here for a fix and have found a lot of similar issues but can't find one that deals with my specific problem.

If anyone knows how I can fix this I would be extremely grateful!

    Thanks!

Where do you get the driver from? If you are using Windows Update for it I would suggest to try the HP's website or (if the driver for Windows 7 is not available there) the NVIDIA's website to get the latest driver (check here).

Either way I believe that the drivers for Windows Vista should work with Windows 7.

I've tried that over and over. Never works. Keeps saying that it can't install because it's not VistaX64/Windows 7X64 OS. Even though it is. I've tried many different drivers but none work. I've been searching all over the web trying to find some fix or workaround and have not come up with anything that works. I'm starting to think I may have that common soldering problem so many others have had with their NVidia chips.....

Try this - when you run the downloaded driver file you will be asked where to save the driver files. Remember that path. When the driver files finish extracting the driver installer will appear. Cancel out of it and try to update driver manually using Device Manager. Check this page on how to do that (you should use the instructions from "Local" paragraph and point to the folder where driver files were extracted).

Yep. Tried that before as well. It always says my Video Driver is up to date and won't give me an option to install the Nvidia driver over the Standard AVG driver. The only time i've been able to download and install an updated Nvidia driver is through the Windows Update. Unfortunately when i restart my laptop it goes to the window loading screen with the Logo and then goes to BSOD with the previously posted error.

Have you tried to update drivers using by clicking "Browse my computer for driver software" -> "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" -> "Have disk" and then point to nvam.inf file that is present in the Display subfolder in the folder where drivers where extracted?

I have the same problem. I have Windows 7 32bit on an Acer Aspire 5680 with Geforce Go 7600 video card. Sometimes it will run all day no problem, but then sometimes the screen will go black for a bit and then either recover or BSOD. It sucks because I often lose my unsaved work. I hope somebody has a solution...

i have been getting the same problem since i bought a N4300GT low profile card as the card in my acer aspire descktop packed up. i'm not great at computers anyhow so this just about does my box in , as i play on-line game an it only happens when i'm in game.

i know it aint the card as its less than a month old but i never got it in the 2+ years i've had the computer even when the old graphics card was making loads of noise (due to fan packing up) i never recieved this message.  seems to me nvidia and microsoft dont care about fixing it unless we pay them even more extortionate amounts of money which i cannot afford due to being unemployed

It would be nice if someone from MS would address this issue. Google shows pages of people with this same problem. I have 2 computers, both x64 Win 7, one has an ATI card, the other has NVIDIA and both blue screen constantly with DX or driver errors. I've completely rebuild both PCs, checked all hardware, chkdsk, etc and the problems persist. It's obviously a Microsoft issue.

I have windows Vista 64 bit and my Dad has windows XP 32bit, both computers i have built myself all with the same components.

    Motherboard: Asus M2N SLi Deluxe

    Graphics card: Asus 7300LE

    Memory: ocz pc2-6400 sli.

and it has happened on both computers, but when i was fixing my fathers i formatted his hard drive with my computer to do a fresh install, put it back into his computer switched it on and the same lines and images came on when it was booting up but the windows install was ok, so does that mean the bios is corrupted. i haven't had the blue screen appear for a while but the lines and images are there when i boot up.

I have the same problem also - I didn't "see" the BSOD for the longest time, it would just scramble, hang and I'd have to reboot. It was only recently, that the monitor actually caught a bit of the BSOD and I started searching the event viewer and figure out what the problem was.

I, too, have the NVIDIA driver problem. I am going to start a new thread, as my problem is a teeny bit different. Hope someone acknowledges the problem.. I havent been able to do anything other than safe mode for over a month!

I had this error recently and tried every driver (most up to date driver is 296.10) - Windows 7 x64.

I am currently running 2xGTX460 of which sometimes I would manage to get it to run in SLI mode but at some point will lock up and give the BSOD Nvlddmkm.sys (even when activating SLI in the Nv Control Panel).

One of the cards worked fine on its own while the other caused the BSOD. When setting which card to do PhysX, it managed to go into SLI mode if set to the working card but would lock up later with a Black screen and restart.

I have done a flash bios update, reinstalled several drivers (the full way as well), refitted the heat sink (definitely not a overheating problem).

Chances are the card is gone... however there is ONE FINAL FIX (if you dont have RMA/Warranty).

    http://www.overclock.net/t/529271/bake-your-graphics-card-in-the-oven-fix-it-worked

Took off the heatsink+fan and anything else that would come off with screws. Heated the oven to 200oC, placed the card on 4 balls of aluminium foil in a baking tray covered in aluminium foil. Baked for 8mins 36secs, left to cool for 10-15mins. Refitted the heatsink (using Arctic Silver 5), plugged back into the computer and now it works flawlessly.

How this helps and good luck.
