I have a Dell Mini using Windows Vista Home Basic.
When I try to access Windows Updates and check for updates; it says "Windows Update cannot Currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer."
I've tried the following:
- Restarting the service in services.msc and restarting the computer to save the changes.
- I had found a thread in a vista problem forum (there are SOOO many) that required me to
export a Reg file, then typing in "sfc /scannow" in a run window, then
importing a fresh copy of that reg file from a clean Vista computer into the Registry... then going back into services.msc and restarting the service
I'm running out of ideas before I re-install Vista itself. I hope it doesn't come down to that... I'll not have a good day.
Please someone help me.
Thank you
