I received the subject error message whiel trying to copy / move some data from my server (MC05) to my Vista RC1 laptop. It prevents me from copying or moving the data. The files are on being moved from mapped drives from teh server to a local host storage location. These files were contained in folder at are sync'd to the laptop, but I do not want them sync'd (PSTs and such) so I am moving them locally to get them out of the remote store that is sync'd, yet still have them available offline.

What does the error mean, and and how do I work around it?

I am having a similiar problem with quota when trying to copy and paste large files (300+ mbs). Error 0×800705AD Insufficient quota to complete the requested service... but I have plenty of disk space available for the file

I installed VISTA on my desktop and now can't save any new files, or create folders across a mapped drive to our Windows 2003 file server! Very frustrating!

I have Vista RTM and am getting the same error only when moving to a local folder.  Copy is not a problem.

Here is what I had to do to fix this error:

I deleted all remnants of my network account on my local computer. Including my user account. I then tried to log back in and then was getting a GPO error. Then I manually re-created a network account on my local computer, and it all began working as it should. It had to do with the permissions on my local computer not allowing me to save across a network drive.

    Helllloo! Is this thing on?

We receive the same error here when we attempt to move folders.

I'm having the same problem, not sure why I cannot copy/move files bigger than 1Mb

I cannot play with the network settings or change my account settings, since I have not Admin rights.

Do I need to contact Administrator to reset my account, or what?

I am also having the same problem (or at least the same error message in similar circumstances). My intuition is that this is related to the offline files feature. I can no longer do substantial write operations to a folder hierarchy on my Vista laptop that is supposed to be synced to a Vista server file hierarchy. It arose after I wrote a bunch of new data to the client folder in offline mode, which may indicate that there is in fact some sort of storage issue at play.

In general the offline files feature seems a bit buggy to me still. This is not the only issue I have run into with it. Despite Jim Alchin's sweepeing blog post to the contrary, I think it works better in XP.

    Hi guys,

My solution was to go to Control Panel>Offline Files and increase the amount of disk space available to both offline files in general and the temporary space (for the sake of simplicity, I increased it by the same amount of the number of files I needed to move but less would probably have done).

Thanks, yes, this definitely solved my problem as well. A more solution-oriented error message directing people to form would probably save some grief (and would be a low-cost fix).

I've also got this problem while trying to copy 60GB from Vista 64 bit to a XP share. If I use the XP machine to pull the same data from the Vista machine it works.

Does this mean for it to work from Visa -> XP I have to increase the amount of disk space available to both offline files in general and the temporary space to 60GB? I often transfer large amounts of data between machines so this will be a recurring issue for me.

Is this still a bug with XP / Vista or just a "feature"? Anyone know if Microsoft are working on this?

I also heard disabling windows defender in Vista may help, anyone tried this?

To find Offline Files you have to switch to Classic View.

i had the same problem, but noticed .  I also had this folder set for offline sync in Vista although I was online.  I went ahead and performed a SYNC and then the files moved fine.

I had the same issues on Windows 7 and this fixed the problem.

    Thanks JK.
