Windows 7 Printer Ports Missing
-
lunedì 15 marzo 2010 18:52This issue manifested when I installed the latest Win 7 update files. The problem is related to using a W2k3 SP2 print server and a Windows 7 Pro workstation. A dll file called PHPZPNP.dll was recently loaded when a HP LJ 4014n printer was installed on the network. The result of the two above actions has made the workstation spooler instable. The cause is more than likely a conflict with the asynchronsis RPC in the Windows 7 machine not playing nice with the W2K3 SP2 print server. I have tried deleting this dll, editing the HKLM spooler driver 3 location as per a possible fix and nothing has helped. I can delete all the printer and re-install them (via GPO) and I get the same problem. When this happens an I go to check any network printer and look at Ports I see not a one. I bounce the spooler and the ports come back - for a short time (2 mins) then the spooler stops the ports go away and I'm back where I began. I'd love to up-grade my print server to W2K8, but that is not possible at this time.
I need a way to fix this issue before I start to roll out 100+ windows 7 clones. Please help me!
Hocko

Hi Hoxie,
I have donwloaded the PCL5,PCL6 and PS driver for HP LJ 4014n from HP's website to check the driver package and the DLL but could not find a DLL named PHPZPNP.dll .
Are you sure that the "PHPZPNP.dll" belongs to "HP LJ 4014n" ?
HP LJ 4014n x86 driver for Windows 7

Hi,
Damage to some of the system files associated with the printer drivers on Windows 7 may cause printer to go missing from the installed list.
Such problems can be only resolved by repairing the system files that got damaged.
Users are advised to check the system files on the OS using the default system file checker and either use the default OS repair tool and the installation disk or try restoring the system to a previous restore point to solve the problem.
