hello Michael,
scan by workgrp. all work fine
scan by IP range first time, almost no PC found, and no errors displayed. WMI and Registry all failed.
scan by ip range sec time, selet ip range 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.253 while scanning i saw
success failure object count
WMI 9 243 0
Registry 0 252 0
one 1 PC is connection refused.
and 1 is success which is show o/s = insufficient data and service pack= insufficient data.
but they are actually not yet pre-config for inv scanning. not ready
Machine Summary and Application summary is empty, i guess because object count is = 0;BUT EVEN MY OWN PC is missing, dose it because the tools will not scan own IP address ?
but scan by workgrp i can see my own PC inv.scan by IP range thrid time, i enter my PC ONLY and scan again, now INCLUDED some PC which
was not able to scan. now is success and see the inv, total 6 PC can see inv, but we got abt
80 PC, again, by workgrp is 95% work fine, except few PC i not have time to prepare.so should i try again
more info For your ref.
Ping computer name got echo reply
ping -a 192.168.1.101 got echo reply but no named resolved. do i really need the
resolve host name if i used ip methods ?my inv.bat file for winXP, let me know if anything missing or wrong.

Yes, MAP needs to be able to resolve an IP to a host name or FQDN. Have you checked for any master browser or NETBIOS problems on your network?
