Discussion Lync Client Freezes on Windows 8 Release Preview

  • martedì 17 luglio 2012 10:57

I have been using Windows 8 Release Preview and have an issue with Lync Client (4.0.7577)

Everything appears to work fine until I make an audio call using Enterprise Voice. The call connects fine but I cannot hang up.

When I try to hang up the client freezes and becomes unresponsive. Only solution is to force quit the application.

I have tried reinstalling Windows 8 but same behaviour remains, so it appears that its a Windows 8 issue with the Lync client.

I have enabled Logging to the Event Viewer but nothing there.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Alan

Hi, did you use the latest Lync 2010 Client Patch Version from CU6?

Or you can also use the Lync 2013 Client from the Office 2013 preview. It will also work with Lync 2010 Server.

    Hi Holger

    I didn't patch with CU6.

Will try both the CU6 patch and Lync 2013 client.

    Much appreciated.

Odd, I haven't had any issues with calls under Windows 8.  Now that I'm running 2013, however, I noticed that nothing is populated under the Conversations tab...  is that not enabled in the preview?

I have moved to Lync 13 client and the same behavior is displayed.

Lync client crashes when connecting audio or receiving files.

Windows 8 was a clean build again with the Lync client installed.

This is making Lync unusable on Windows 8

Only info I get in the Event Viewer isthe bleow which isn't much help.

The program lync.exe version 15.0.4128.1019 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Hi, did you deinstall Office 2010 before. Lync 2013 and Win 8 runs good on my DEL Lat 6510.

If you have still Problems, check your Hardware drivers

As mentioned this is a clean build of Windows 8 with Office 2013.

The exact same behavior is also displayed on my laptop which is different vendor\hardware

Cant really see it being related to hardware given this info.

There is no issue with the consumer preview of Windows 8.

Ok, but I have also install severall win8 and lync 2013 without any crashing. Only the pre relased Version of lync 2013 crashed on Win8 or Win7.

Have you tried to use another certified Audio device for Lync 2013?

    Hi Holger

I'm using a Jabra Pro 930 headset and Logitech BH320 earbuds both with the same result.

When I place\receive a call or try to send\accept a file transfer the client freezes on both laptop and PC and has to be killed manually.

I had this down as a Lync 2010 client issue on Windows 8 but it looks more and more like a Windows 8 issue.

Hm, ok, I use also the Jabra Pro 930 on a W8 Build 4800 without Problems.

The W8 RTM should released the first week of August for companies with assurance I heard. May be the released Version of W8 will wotk better together?

I'm having the same original issue, but using Lync 2013 (current build) on Win8 Enterprise.

Lync works, until I make/receive a call. When I try hanging up, it freezes the entire program and must be force closed.

    Ideas?

Haven't been able to replicate on other coworkers (same machine, same setup) machines.

The same problem here. The Lync client 2013 works until the user uses any function. Call, IM or just the settings tab....the client freezes without any events in the logs.
