    Hi All,

     

    Write now I have blocked 5062 port of Edge server(Internal),when I am inviting the federated users for Audio conference they were unable to join i.e they are connecting and immedietly getting disconnected.

    But they were able to invite me for audio conference. Their end they have enabled default windows firewall.

    If we block the following port 5062 at Edge server, what kind of problems the federated users will get ?

    By default port 5062 is a Authentication port Used for internal ports for SIP/MTLS authentication of A/V users and IM communications flowing outbound through the internal firewall. The port should be the same as the A/V authentication port that is configured on the Edge Server, as shown on the Edge Interfaces tab of the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Properties dialog box.

    If blocking 5062 port at Edge server then you could not start A/V call and IM conferencing with federation users.

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for the response. This is what extaly I have done and these are my observations.

    I have enabled Windows server 2008 default firewall at my Edge server. The edge server is running with 4 NIC cards (1 private and 3 public).

    I am not sure what ports exactly it is blocking,but as I mentioned the federated user able to invite me for audio/video conference and I am able to join.

    But when I am inviting them they were unable to join and I am able to do the IM conferencing succesfully with them.

    One more thing If I call individual federated contact(audio/video), I have no issues.

    Is windows 2008 firewall causing the issue, I will disable the firewall and will update you the status.

    What all the required steps I have to make sure to run windows 2008 firewall without issues. Please suggest me.

    Hi, please check the section "Port Requirement Differences in Office Communications Server 2007" of this documents (Edge Configuration Guide - Office Communications Server 2007 and Office Communications Server 2007 R2 External Access) that states what exactly ports need to be opened for all funtions on Edge server.
