Hi,
What is a Tenant in sharepoint online? I didn't get any information over internet, just getting examples of multi tenancy.
How is the maximum size per tenant different from the maximum size of a site collection?

Multitenancy is a big buzz word around cloud computing. It's basically the idea that if you build a large apartment building (a cloud service), then you can rent to lots of tenants (companies) and everyone benefits from the large investment in infrastructure in the cloud/apartment building.
Site collections, on the other hand, are slices of your company's SharePoint Online account. I guess to continue the apartment building analogy, these would be the individual partitions you decided to put up in your living room.

To add to JakesterPDX's comments...
Your subscription is the "Tenant" and your number of users and/or subscription type determine your total storage available. You can then set site quotas on each site collection to any value and long as you don't exceed your total storage.

As an Online subscriber you have no control over these two options. If you install SharePoint on your own servers and decide to support Tenants there then you can manage these.
