Unanswered SP Designer workflow "Pause for Duration" action never resumes

    I'm running into a problem that's been mentioned several times, but I couldn't find any actual explanations or resolutions. Using the standard SP Designer workflow action "Pause for Duration" in a workflow deployed to a list in SharePoint Online (Enterprise Plan) simply doesn't seem to work. The workflow pauses and then never resumes; it's stuck at "In Progress" forever. To make sure that it's not related to the logic of my specific workflow, I built a super simple workflow that does nothing other than log a "start" comment, pause for a minute (also tried 2 minutes and 5 minutes) and then log a "resume" comment and it just doesn't work - it logs the start comment and that it is now pausing, but then never resumes. I have heard that the timer may be set to 5 minute intervals and setting shorter durations may still result in a 5 minute pause, but my workflows never resumes at all.

    Does anybody have an dea what's going on? I remember reading somewhere that SharePoint Online users don't have access to timer jobs, but I had understood that to mean that you can't set up any timer jobs yourself or configure anything - does it really mean that, simply said, nothing that relies on timers will actually work in SharePoint Online? Is there any documentation that details which features work and which don't?

    Hi Mathias,

    From your description of the issue, it sounds like you are using an Enterprise subscription using Office 365. If this is true, you will want to call into technical support, create a service request through the Administration Portal or post your question in the Office 365 forums to have your question answered properly.
