The Welcome Email
I have what sounds like a simple request. I want to modify the welcome email that a user gets when they are added to a SharePoint site. I have found no one that states that it is possible, and have found one site (http://blogs.msdn.com/anolan/archive/2008/01/07/is-it-possible-to-modify-sharepoint-email-notifications.aspx ) that states it is not possible.
I (actually my client) finds it difficult to believe that Microsoft would have been that short sighted to not allow modification of this email. I "found" the XML files that drive the alerts, but nothing that goes towards the Welcome Email.
Has anyone found a way to modify this that maybe I missed, or can I get confirmation from the MS Design team that this is not configurable (Without quite a bit of developement)?
Thank you,
Eric VanRoy

- This standard email footer text is defined in lines 5219-5221 of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server\extensions\12\Resources\core.en-US.resx.
I claim no originality for this information: it came from another forum posting at http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/30212653/how-to-change-welcome-mai.aspx.
However I will add that you need to recycle the application pool in IIS to pick up the change.- Contrassegnato come rispostaEric VanRoy venerdì 17 ottobre 2008 18.19

Hi Eric
The way our system was set up has a blank message allowing me type a customised message to the recepient. I am not sure how this was done though. I am using the MOSS 2007 Standard. Although there is a limited number of characters it will allow.
Alternatively, send it from your own email client.
Cheers
DavidYou are correct. when you add a user you get a box to type in the "additional" text you want in the email. This is placed in an email with a lot of other text, specifically the email gets this added to the end and that is not desired:
What is a SharePoint site?
A SharePoint site is a Web site that provides a central storage and collaboration space for documents, information, and ideas. A SharePoint site is a tool for collaboration, just like a telephone is a tool for communication, or a meeting is a tool for decision making. A SharePoint site helps groups of people (whether work teams or social groups) share information and work together. For example, a SharePoint site can help you:
* Coordinate projects, calendars, and schedules.
* Discuss ideas and review documents or proposals.
* Share information and keep in touch with other people.
SharePoint sites are dynamic and interactive -- members of the site can contribute their own ideas and content as well as comment on or contribute to other people's.I fully understand "Send it from your own client", but that is a little clumsy for a non technical site owner that is addiing 50-75 users to 4 or 5 sites, not to mention a large implementation.
Thank you for your feedback.
- is there any way that i can send email to user A when user B is added to the site??

- When you open core.en-US.resx, search for ServerEmailFooter and it will take you to it. It's a pretty big file.
Mark - wow, that was almost like pulling teeth to get this figured out, I even forgot I posted this and for some reason did not get alerted at the final two posts.
Thank you that was exactly what I was looking for.
