Create where clause with parameters in Excel Services
- I'm just starting out with Excel Services, and I have what I think is a pretty straightforward question. Basically I have a set of data from SQL Server that I want to display in a workbook on MOSS, and I want to be able to control the dataset's contents with a parameter in the workbook that a user can modify on the web display. For example, year is the parameter, the user can enter a year, and the sheet shows only data for the selected year.
My question is this: can I set the workbook up so the query forms a where clause based on this user-entered parameter? Or, is there a better way to go about this altogether? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

- Excel Services does not support query tables. The best solution (portable across Excel Services and Excel) is to use a Pivot Table on the SQL datasource, and then to connect Slicer WebParts using Part to Part communication. There are also all kinds of other flavors of filtering web parts beside the one listed in the sample.
