Sign me in automatically not working?
I have a SharePoint site setup using Forms Auth and anonymous access. When users click on Sign me in automatically it works great for that day but when they try to get to the site the next day they have to type in their username and password again? Is there a setting that I am missing for this or need to configure? Also, this site is an internet site.

Try the following.
Tools - Internet Option - Security Tab - Sites - Advance - Add your site, which you want to login automatically.
that should work, but it would be helpful if next time you could provide at least your IE versionThanks for the reply. I'm using IE7 but this will be an internet site so there will be multiple browsers hitting the site that need to get logged in. I'll give this a try and see what happens.
I take it there is no setting or anything so that users will not have to do this.
Thanks for all the help.- They aren't using their Windows ID to sign in, and they may not even be in Windows. There has to be something that passes the creds from a cache, so if the browser doesn't do it, what is there? Even in an Intranet situation, non-IE browsers don't automatically login, because they can't pass the windows creds (or simply don't have them) to IIS.
SharePoint Architect || My Blog Sounds like they would benefit from a cookie setting being changed in forms based authentication to allow for greater than 24 hour credential caching.
Are you using SharePoint 2007 with SP1 or SP2? April 2009 Cumulative Update?
http://www.spdan.com- I have SharePoint 2007 SP2 but not the April 2009 Cumulative Update. Should that Update get installed? How would I update the cookie settings?
Thanks - Clayton,
The "Sign me in automatically" checkbox has really nothing to do with being signed in next time you come to the site does it (let me explain...)? It seems like to me it only helps in connecting to Client Applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) by not making the User login again (when opening/editing the Client Application), or in some cases the file will not load ever if you do not check the box before logging in. Please let me know if I am not accurate.
Thanks in advance for your help!
