We use multiple monitor setups in our work, sometimes as many as 8 or 9 displays on a single PC.  With Vista when I reboot the monitors would come back up as they were previously (both resolution and position and primary display assignment).  As long as I did not change the monitors plugged in everything worked fine startup after startup.

Since moving to windows 7, they come back up in different configurations, unpredictably, when I reboot/startup.  This applies to the resolution of each (win 7 tends to reset the display to its native resolution) and the primary monitor setting (i.e. one of the previous secondary monitors is now the primary) - this is a huge problem in that sometimes our secondary, third etc.. monitors are in other rooms.  Tracking this down in time consuming.

This is happening on different PC's with different graphics cards.  Two examples would be an 8 monitor system using Nvidia Quadro cards and another a 10 monitor system using Nvidia 9800gt cards.  I have other systems exhibiting this as well.

In one install the computer has the exact same monitors, config etc. as it did with Vista now with 7 I have to re-assign the main monitor when I boot up (though not always... hmm.mmm...)'

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hi Brian,

this issue should be caused by the graphic card drivers are not compabitle with the Windows 7 completely. You can try to update the graphic card drivers for our comptuer according their model. In addition, you can try to install the CHipset driver for your computer.

    Sincerely!

    John

    Hi Brian,

In addition, you can try to test if the issue disappeared when we just connect only two monitors. Since the monitors' settings is deponded on the display card driver, it's better to install the latest driver for your display cards. It's better to contact the Graphic cards' manufacture to inquire if they have released the new driver for mutiple monitors in Windwos 7.
