When I insert a USB device (confirmed problem with my Zune), the computer completely freezes. It doesn't produce a stop error, the computer literally just stops. It's usually after I've inserted and removed several devices since the computer has booted. And the computer hangs on the bootup untill i unplug my Zune from the usb win 7 build 7100 64 bit..

    World Peace.

How many devices exactly are you inserting and removing? Does it happen if you don't add anything but the Zune?

I had 2 pen drives plugged in too but one is a readyboost and the other i use as a backup it does not boot when just the Zune is plugged in, i have narrowed it down to that no big deal but maybe you guys want to try and fix that in RC2 if there is one.

    hi,

recommend to check your BIOS, if it is truly set on the proper Boot device sequence, with only the HDD where Win7 is installed as primary boot device.
It seems to want to boot from Zune.....

    bye,

The Zune has disk space on it right? Well it is likely attempting to use it as a hard drive to boot from....

    Hi,

when it has USB device boot up, then configure the Bios not to look for external USB devices with a boot sector on it.
Or there is possibility the Windows 7 boot loader gets stuck at the loading of the OS, thinking or expecting a boot sector on the Zune's HDD.

Review your Event Log Viewer to see if there is any log about this.

    Bye,

No log of this in event viewer. Unplug the Zune on bootup with windows 7 problem solved, usb pen drives are still plugged in and it does not hang or try to boot from them, Strange.

Windows 7 seems more finicky about what it will boot up with while devices are plugged in. Hopefully that will be addressed with further releases, or in service packs.

I have windows vista and I have the same problem.  I can boot just fine into the Vista partition except when i have my Zune plugged in.  This includes a second partition (Ubuntu 9.04) and an external HDD as well as a couple of other usb devices.  The boot hangs at every step: BIOS, Grub, and windows loading.  it happens every time until i unplug the zune and then no problems what-so-ever.

I have a Zune 30 and an Asus laptop... if it might be a hardware problem.
