    I can not go onto IE using xpmode. My computer is
    running win7 professional 64 bit and I have installed Windows virtual
    pc to use xpmode last year and it worked fine. When I click on the IE
    icon, I get the "windows can not display the webpage" message box. I
    ran the diagnosis and it's telling me the cable is not hooked up. It
    is the same computer, how can that be? If it helps, here is the
    diagnostic log file:

    Open Settings for the vm.  What networking adaptor is selected?
    Colin Barnhorst Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on DIY with 6GB ram.

    Thanks for the reply. It was the set for the wired card that is in the pc. I changed the setting to shared NAT and that fixed it. What does shared NAT mean and what does it do? Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.

    It won't allow the vm to see a local network, however.  Bob or Steve know much more about it so maybe one of them will chime in.
