Discussion Migrating Hyper-V guests to a new host - Network issues

I have just installed a new Dell server and set it up as a Hyper-V host with 2008 R2.
Over the weekend I migrated 3 VM's successfully to the new host, but I'm stuck with 2 of the others.

One is a Linux host (Debian 4 - yes I know, old) and it has got the Hyper-V integration modules installed and the other is Windows Server 2008 (not R2).

I tried both exporting/importing and simply shutting down and copying the VHD to the new host and setting it up as a new machine.

Both of the guests booted up okay and everything looked normal, but they have weird network issues.

After setting up the IP details again on the Windows guest, I get a fair bit of packet loss when pinging the guests from another machine. One of these guests is a Sharepoint front end server, and when browsing it's quite slow and you can tell there is some kind of a network issue.

I've upgraded the integration services on the Windows VM and restarted but it didn't make any difference.

Has anyone experienced this before? It's weird how the other guests are all okay (mixture of Linux and Windows 2003 R2)

    Hi,

According to the description, it seems that you may encountered a TCP Offloading issue. The following post discussed a similar issue, you can refer to:

    Hi Vincent,

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately my next out of hours maintenance window is not until next weekend (not this weekend) so I won't be able to investigate until then. I will reply to the thread after I have been able to try it out.

    Thanks.
