Well there is a known issue recently.
However, can you please elaborate whether you are facing this issue on a Microsoft WSUS server environment or simple standalone PCs connecting to Microsoft update website?

It is all personnal computer using auto update service.
Inmost cases, if I install updates starting from bottom of the list, approximatly 10 at a time, I will be able to install all of them without a problem.

I just got a computer in today, this computer is 2 weeks old we are having random system32\XXXX.dll is not designed to run on windows.
No spyware, malware, virus, rootkit found.
wups.dll not designed to run on windows show up when trying to do an inplace upgrade.
SFC finds problems, but cannot fix them (I actually have never seen SFC fix a problem).
Could that be related to the updates issues? -

"Nice". I had the same problems since the 20th November too. The clients connect to the wsus-server and I cold put them into the groups, but the clients can't get updates. The most clients reports me, there are no updates available. If some updates are in the cache but not downloaded yet, I get a error message like windows update error 8024401c or windows update error 0x8024400D.
A lot of configurations in the WSUS and the IIS are wrong, but I don't now which in detail.I removed the wsus-role on the Windows Server 2012 and the IIS. After this and a reboot I install the WSUS- and IIS-Role again. The internal database was on the old stand, the clients can get updates now, but: they get just the new updates, not the updates before the reinstall.

This is a possible issue of either wups.dll either gone missing or corrupt.
It could also that the dll is not registered correctly.
I can enumerate following reasons for the failure:
- You repair your Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) installation by using the Windows XP SP2 CD. Then, you install Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) before you update the Windows Update software to the current version.
- You perform a clean install of Windows XP SP2. Then, you install Windows XP SP3 before you update the Windows Update software to the current version.
- The current version of Windows Update is not installed and registered correctly.
While giving out computers to clients please ENSURE YOU USE GENUINE WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS.
Microsoft has devised a mechanism to mess with the PCs which are not genuine.
Also, try following links that can really help solve the issue you are facing. Run the FIX-ITs and the issue would resolve.

Sorry for the delay I havent been able to reply for a while.
The .dll issue was just mentioned here because i thought they might be cause by windows update failing to do its work.
I fixed it by doing an inplace upgrade. But it seem it has caused this thread to move off topic.
The problem is Windows update fails to install updates.
Systems are not windows xp.
Systems are ALL Genuine. Most of them are new brand named computer.I am sitting by one right now that I am setting up for a customer (Brand new fresh out of the box) and windows update fails to install.
So I installed them 2 or 3 at a time, complete waste of time for something that should be automatic.
What is going on with the updates? -
mercoledì 19 dicembre 2012 21:24Once again I was able to install all the updates manually starting from the bottom by selecting between 2 and 5 at a time.

sabato 22 dicembre 2012 18:20While installing updates automatically, is any error code encountered?
