Confused about install

All,
I've installed the beta version of FEP 2010. First, the installation instructions I've found do not match my install.

It discusses a basic install and basic install with remote database.
I, however, do not have those options. I basically have Advanced Topology or Console only.
So,I select the advanced topology. That gives me two more options. Reporting/Altert and console. I leve both options checked.
After entering the SCCM server, I move to the next set of options. reporting database. I choose a remote SQL server, and for the reporting server URL, I also use a remote SQL server (the same as above)
Once the install complete successfully, I am unable to access anything in the SCCM management tools. All FEP items say "error", and I am missing items when I try to validate the install:

I've found answers to my questions.
First, the Basic install options are not available unless you are running the installation on the SCCM server.
Then, and only then, it will install the necessary components for SCCM.
You can also, at that time, install thereporting database elsewhere.
Which, leads me to another question. Is there even a dedicated server requirement for FEP 2010 deployments? (outside of SCCM)
