What is a good lab set up or test labs to pracice on for Windows Server Exams 70-640, 70-642, and 70-643 to be able to get my MCITP Windows Server Administrator Certification?
2012年4月28日 18:17I am trying to set up a test lab or practice lab for these exams knowing that I want to take all of them. I was wondering what is a good lab configuration set up to be able to learn all the task for all these exams? Even if you just have one lab set up to just cover one exam I would definitely appreciate anything just trying to find a starting point as to setting up my lab using Virtual Machines, Windows 2008 Server or 2008 Server R2 Enterprise. I will be using VM's to carry out the lab. Also if you mention your lab mention your memory and HDD space per set up or VM so I know what requirement I would need for my computer to carrry out the full practice lab. I just want to have a good practice lab to pass these exams and be able to be sufficient on my computer. I was tring to self teach and would love some advice to where to start off as a good foundation for a test lab for on or any one of these exams?

You can prepare this setup to start with , later add components as required.
Install these VM's using Virtual PC or VMware workstation on a good hardware with atleast 8GB ram and a good modern processor which suites your budget-
- VM server A - Windows 2008/DC(ADDS)/DNS/GC
- VM server B - Windows 2008/DC(ADDS)/DNS/DHCP
- VM server C - Windows 2008/ Terminal Server/TS licensing server/WDS server/IIS Web server etc.
- VM client - Windows 7 domain member machine
You can obtain all the trials and resources below -
To set-up your test environment, download these items.
Download Windows Virtual PC
Download Evaluation version to try out Windows Server 2008 R2
Download Windows 7 Enterprise 90-day Trial
Make sure you enable Virtualization Support for your Laptop/Desktop to start with.

here are some good training from Microsoft
You can prepare your self for the MCITP lab through the following steps
1) you must have a high processor laptop or desktop ( i5 ,i7) with min 4 GB of ram
2) install vmware or oracle virtual box as a virtualization tool
3) install windows 2008 r2 and make it you DC with DNS and AD installed in it which would be your primary dns server with Global Gatalog
4) install windows 2008 r2 and make it your ADC with secondary DNS zone also install AD & check the replication of DNS and AD
5)Install windows 7 as a client on the third vm machine
sometime by default your mother board do no support virtualization so you can go to to your BIOS and make it VT enables as it would disabled.

Does ADC mean AD Certificate Services. Why should I install ADC on the second server along with a secondary DNS Zone? What is the difference of ADC and AD DS?

About Me ?
I've created a tool that will build the testlab based on the base configuration.
It now supports 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012.
It's available for free download on codeplex here: Hydration Kit - Test Lab: Base Configuration
Hope this helps.
