  • Hi,

We do have logic to check in our installer to check for the SMS Client (and prevent Intune from installing if found) because side-by-side deployment is not supported.

One option you could try is to simply download the files to the machine via SMS and create a scheduled task to install the Windows Intune client after deploying the bits to the machine.  At the end of that package remove the SMS 2003 Client.

You could also follow this guide to embedd the Windows Intune client into an image, and use the scheduled task it creates for your scenario.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks.

  • Wow...SMS 2003...that reaches from way back in the day!  I doubt there will be many/anyone who is tried what you're attempting, but I do not see any issues with being able to script both. Alternatively, you may be able to deploy the Intune agent with SMS and then use Intune to just do the uninstall of the SMS client.  For info on scripting the uninstall of the SMS client, check http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826842

Having been an SMS customer, are you certain you want to use Intune over ConfigMgr?
