Uploading installable file (.exe) to my website for suscriber downloads

Dear All,
I am not sure why I am unable to get my .exe file uploaded to my website, to download properly for installation by my subscribers.
Can someone please help me with the right procedure for formating such files for upload and proper download?
Also a reference to any helpful article or material will be highly appreciated.
