답변됨Cannot get SCCM Right-click tools working with SCCM R2 and SQL 2008 on separate boxes

Have Rick Houchins' SCCM Right-click tools version 1.9 running on a Server 2008 terminal server.  When connecting to a single-box site server, running on Server 2008, it works fine, but, when connecting to my central site, with SCCM R2 and SQL 2008 on separate Server 2008 boxes, I get namespace errors.  In particular, when try and run the "Add Systems to this Collection", AddColl.hta, I get an error on line 105, column 5, of "Invalid Namespace", Code 0.

Not sure if I can fix something, and, presume it has something to do with running on two boxes, rather than one?

    Thanks!

I would suggest that you email Rick directly from his myitforum.com blog, he usually answers emails really fast. We don't normally support third party tools here. I do use right click tools myself but I have zero experience using SQL off the server.

This is the first Ihave heard of anyone else publishing right-click tools but I bet he uses the same scripts that Rick uses. As far as I know we all use the same scripts that have been around forever, we just call them from an xml now rather than from the registry.

Probably.  I wouldn't know, because we keep SQL on box.  You might need to edit the .hta and see if you can hard-code in the sql server name.  Or lobby to move SQL back on-box.

Alternatively... I know the right-click tools are awesome.  But honestly I don't use them.  Haven't for years.  Zanders' tools and Ron Crumbakers' Web Remote Tools 3.21 replaced right-click tools for me long ago.

I have no idea if Dan's right-click tools take sql off-box into account, but he's got a different set of right-click tools if you wanted to try them:  http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/direland/

Agreed - it's not part of Configuration Manager, so not supported here. You'd need to contact the owner of the tool directly. If you have questions specific to Configuration Manager itself, those are appropriate here.

Appreciate that, John.  I had thought it MIGHT be the lack of the SCCM Client, so, installed that on both servers, but, it still doesn't work.  I'll write Rick.

    Thanks!

Sorry, Wally, just assumed that others might know of this issue, and, a way to fix it.  I would assume most use some additional tools, as Microsoft didn't put in all needed functionality.

    Thanks.

I can tell you that the SCCM client does not play a part in those tools.

Not arguing, but, Zander's SCCM Client Center ALSO didn't work, giving me a namespace error, too, until I installed the client on both servers, so, I had hoped that it might fix the right-click tools, but, it didn't.  I've written Rick.

    Thanks.

That may be, but those type of issues don't go here :-)

And, very unlikely we'll ever include "all needed functionality" as everyone has their own list of needed things. And there always seems to be higher priority things for our dev team to do with the product. Granted, I would like to see some of those type of tools native in our product also, but I keep being told it's not a high enough of a priority compared to other things.

Understood.  I think the tool we need badly, the most, is a way to dump a list of computers off to a collection as direct memberships.  We do an awful lot of deployments that way, and, with no Microsoft way to do this (they are from varied sites, so, there's no way to use wildcards or anything), this is SORELY missed.

I'll keep the third-party tool conversations off this Forum...<G>

    Thanks.
