    hi all,

    i have Exchange 2010 installed on the following servers

    2 DAG mailbox servers

    1 CAS/HUB server

    1 Exchange 2007 Edg server

    i want to create new virtual servers and move all my environment to it what is the steps to do that and can i upgrade my edge to 2010 ?

    Migration for what Edge  only ?

    and for the other roles what shall i do? install the roles on the VM's with new names and IP addresses ?

    Hi,

    We recommend the following order when installing the Exchange 2010 server roles:

    1. Client Access server role
    2. Hub Transport server role
    3. Mailbox server role
    4. Unified Messaging (UM) server role
    5. Edge Transport server role

    So for edge transport server role, please add it to the current orgnization and then subscribe your Exchange 2010 Edge Transport server to your site.

    After that, you can remove Edge 2007 server.

    thanks for the reply , i will follow the steps as above but my question what i need to do is to configure the new mailbox servers in the same DAG or create anew one as i want to create new DB's and move the mailboxes to it?

    and i want to make CAS array with NLB.

    Hi,

    You may need to create new mailbox server and then move mailbox to the new database.

    Do not add this server to DAG. I think we can create DAG after the migration.

    Besides, please understand that if we have have mailbox role installed together with CAS role, and we have made DAG with that mailbox server, then we cannot create CAS array together with DAG, since we cannot have windows load balance intalled with windows cluster, that is unsupported.

    thanks for the reply, so u think i deploy one mailbox server stand alone create the DB's move mailboxes to the DB's then depoly another mailbox server and create the DAG then decomission old mailbox servers?

    what about the CAS server?

    Hi,

    We need create CAS and hub role first. Do not install CAS and hub role together with mailbox server role.
