Hi gesaugen,
I’m sorry that I haven’t the environment for SharePoint 2003, if there are any differences about the settings below, please feel free to let me know.
Go to Shared Document Library->Settings->Document Library Settings, in the settings page, click Title, description and navigation under General Settings, to see whether Display this document library on the Quick Launch is check to Yes.
Also, you can add the “Shared documents” to the quick launch:
1. Go to Site Actions->Site Settings, in the Site Settings page, choose Quick Launch under Look and Feel.
2. In the Quick Launch page, click New Link, type the URL for the Shared Documents in the new link page.
Thanks,

Hi Qiao
I've managed to find the option myself. It goes:
Site Settings -> (under Customization) Modify site content -> Customize "Shared Documents" -> Change general settings -> (under Navigation) "Display this document library on the Quick Launch bar?" - mark "YES" (it was NO)
Thanks for help anyway :)
But I have another question:
in the same path, under Customization there is the "Views" part in which a default view has been deleted. It was named "All Documents". Is there way to restore it as it was originally? Only way I find is to create my customized view that would mimic "all documents" but it's not the same, i want original back...
