- Hi,
I am wondring when I set 'remote query timeout' option to 300 second but when I remotely taking the session of this server from other SQL Server it still executing the query more than 5 Min.
sp_configure 'remote query timeout (s)' ,300
reconfigure with override
our aim:- any application team member or any remote user if executing the query & it taking more than 5 MIN it should to time out.
I have set remote query timeout parameter by using above command & I also cross in run value its updated.
enviroment:-SQL server 2000 Enter Edt
logshipping configure in this servers as aa secondry.
please advice.

- You can do this by modifying the connection string that your client application uses to connect to the DB engine.

- Hi Ravi,
This value applies to an outgoing connection initiated by the Database Engine as a remote query. This value has no effect on queries received by the Database Engine.

india - The query timeout has to be set in the client side application and not in SQL server . Have a read at KEN's blog on this ..

I think it should be server side configuration..
as above Lekss has written ,,, any time client can increase query time out parameter..
there should be control from DBA side??
