I downloaded powerpivot, chm help file and started to follow instructions in the "Introducing SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel > Create Your First PowerPivot Workbook > Add Data to Your PowerPivot Workbook >
It is indicated as prerequisite "SQL Server sample database, AS_AWGemSample.baks ", or access one. I never work with access, I searched MS, codeplex, powerpivot websites without success. Thanks for your halp.

In order to go forward, I thoought it would be good to start playing with the access while waiting for finding the sql one.
I tried to follow what is indicated in the access section
Create a Connection to an Access Database
Create a Connection to a SQL Server Database
-
In the Excel window, click the PowerPivot tab.
-
On the PowerPivot ribbon in the Excel window, click PowerPivot.
-
On the ribbon in the PowerPivot window, click From Database and select From Access. This launches the Table Import Wizard which guides you through setting up a connection to a data source.
-
In the Friendly Name box, type AWCompanySales.
-
In the Database name field, click Browse. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the sample files, select AW_CompanySales, and click Open.
-
blah--blah----
Again, to my big surprise, I discover that there is not such access database.
Thanks for your help

Hello,
There is an online tutorial for the released version of PowerPivot that is located here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee835510.aspx. This version of the tutorial uses examples from the fictitious company "Contoso". You should be able to follow the link to the sample data found under "Prerequisites".
Regards,
Linda
