Locked wsus on windows 2008r2 sp1

    hi ,

    i have a test server with windows 2008 r2 SP1 and i can't install wsus.

    the error the i get is ( i bold the error msg) - any help ? is it a know issue ?

      How are you installing WSUS?

      Please share the following files using Skydrive [1]:

      • c:\windows\logs\cbs\*
      • c:\windows\windowsupdate.log

        Hi Mark,

        I got the same issue using SP1 final. I can't install WSUS on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 by just adding it as a role. I'm trying this on several slipstreamed installations of Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

        Just to the point "Searching for Updates" the role-installation does work.

        I've included the last lines of the log. The internet connection does work.

          0x80072EE2 maps to a timeout error.

          Are you sure that this has internet connectivity and can browse to the Windows Update catalog?

            Yes, the machine hat internet connectivity and manual Windows Update did work.

              It's a hyper-v VM with a NIC for internal with DC and a second with external to internet, windows update is working fine, IE, etc.

                Me too, I seem to get this on any WSUS installation on 2008 R2, and I've not found a way around it. I've even had to install a non R2 WSUS server at a number of clients as I get this problem every time.

                This seems to happen even if it's a fresh install. Again, running as a VM within Hyper V, or VMWare, and with a tested internet connection.

                Any help would be greatly appreciated!
