I was wondering why Microsoft suggests all this backup stuff when I could just install Windows 7 and then I look for the Windows.old file. Is this possible, because it was possible when I reinstalled my Windows Vista Home Premium. Help!
The purpose of a backup is to have something to recover from if your existing installation becomes corrupted or destroyed as a result of a failed or defective installation/upgrade of the new operating system. In such a case, the "Windows.old" file would not be accessible or available.Lawrence Garvin, M.S., MCITP(x2), MCTS(x5), MCP(x7), MCBMSP
