    Hello

I have a Windows 2008 R2 server running RDS Services - I have setup about 15 Remoteapps for access through RD Web Access and this was working great.

I decided to install some VM's on a Hyper V which I would make availble to users - I configured the RD Virtualization on the Hyper V server and also since to assign a VM I configured the RD Connection Broker.

1st thing I noticed that all the RemoteApps disappeared - I saved them so brought them back - the second is - when loggin on to the RD Web Access, I see the new icon for the new VM and it works fine - but when I want to select any of the RemoteApps it now Always trys to open my new VM and not the app - soon as I unassign my machine and remove the Connection Broker - the Remote apps works.

The querstion I have can I user RemoteApp and Connection Broker on the same machine since why would it delete the remoteapps?

I have just 1 Server with RD Web Access, RemoteApp and Connection Broker on - I have another Hyper V server which the Vm's are

I did not see you mention this, so be sure that your RemoteApp \ RD Web Access server should be reconfigured to point to your RD Connection Broker as your RemoteApp source.  Also, so you are now adding additional servers, you will need to assign proper membership to the TS Web Access computers local group.

    Hi D.L

I only have 1 server which basically did everything - Only yesterday did I add the RD Connection Broker to be able to use Private Virtual Desktops.

Remoteapps worked great but soon as I did that then any remoteapp program I start trys to start my Virtual Machine

You will need at least two machines for this setup to work.

In Server 2008 R2, RD Connection Broker requires an RDSH server that is set up in redirector mode. It is not possible to have that RDSH redirector also server published RemoteApp programs. If you try, you will get the same behavior you are observing, where connections to the published apps do not go through properly.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi Travis

Thanks for that - I guess somewhere I have something wrong - I went to 3 servers (overkill) I guess - I have a Web Access Server, a RD Connection Server and a Session Host.

So everything is setup - On the Session Host server I have the RD Connection Broker configured to point to the Connection Broker Server.

As soon as I do that No Remoteapps work - As soon as I disabled RD Connection Broker to None then all RemoteApps work - have I got the redirection wrong?

So servers are called RDSSH01 - Session RDSCB01 - Connection Broker and RDSWA01 - Web Access

    Thanks

I suggest you take a look at the following step-by-step guides and see where you went wrong. The key to combining them is (as I mentioned) the RDSH in redirector mode cannot be the same as the RDSH that is server RemoteApp programs.

And one of the following (depending on whether you're doing personal or shared desktops):

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks Travis

I am going to do that since after reading it I can see maybe I did 1 configuration wrong - I do have one question with regards the SSL Cert.

I created it on the RD Web Access server since this is where the IIS was installed - is this the best place to create it? I have imported it to the other servers and they are setup for that Digital Signuature - Or should I create the SSL on another server>

    Thanks

First off, I'm really not an expert on certificates... maybe someone else on the forum can better help answer your question (you may have better luck starting off a new thread).

That said, by the fact that you're asking where to create the certificate, it sounds to me like you're using a self-signed certificate. Is this for a production environment, or a simple test? For production you typically want to use a proper certificate that was generated by an authority that is already trusted by your end-users, not a self-signed cert.

    Hope that helps
