Configure DFS-R to Use FQDN Instead of NetBIOS

I have a DFS-R Namespace with three namespace servers. The referrals to these servers are in the format \\servername\sharename. I'm having a problem, where users in other domains cannot access the namespace, because they can't resolve \\servername via NetBIOS. What I'd like to do is have the referrals change to \\servername.domainname.com\sharename, so that any user accessing the namespace will correctly resolve the name.
As a workaround, I have had the users add the domainname as a suffix in their DNS settings, but I'd rather fix this from a centralized place, rather than going around to 2000 users individually.

Oh, and yes, I'm fully aware that this is a Windows 2008 forum, but since Microsoft has seen fit to removing any easy access to the Windows 2003 forums, I figured this was the next most appropriate place to post.
