How long is awhile?   I've been trying to download this all day, and reaching someone actually at Microsoft is impossible.

Nobody knows :) Probably it's a good chance to give a try to another free alternative from here:

    http://www.starwindsoftware.com/starwind-free

running circles around MS target (thanks to caching and deduplication MS is still missing). Check this one:

Hope this helped (at least until MS is not gonna fixing their link :)

I have actually tried Starwind, and like it a lot.

However, I am trying to create an environment in my virtual lab which can be used as a template - so that other users in my organization can "clone" my environment and have their own iSCSI setup -- so, for this reason I am looking for a product which does not have to be "licensed" as I would rather not have my personal information available to the entire company.  And my management refuses to pay the money for Starwind for the company so I am limited to using only free versions of software.

    1) I don't see any problem in using free version of StarWind for what you need. Deploy the same key you've got once.

    2) You need to pay to Microsoft for licenses in any case. You cannot move a VM with fresh Windows Server 2008 R2 to another location preserving it at it's original one (running more then once instance finally).

Vincent the link is still AWOL... Is it a maintenance downtime or should we expect a major version increment soon? :)

    1) the problem is that I don't want my personal key "attached" to the widespread deployment.  After I leave the company, for example, I do not want a license key still being used there which has my personal name on it.   I suppose I could create a Free Key using a false name and information but I'd rather just find a free solution that doesn't require any key.

    2) We have a volume license key with Microsoft which allows us to spin up as many virtual servers as we can shake a stick at.  Most of these servers only live for 3-5 days then are deleted.   So this is not an issue for us.
