    Hello,

    I have one DC that is  MS 2008 R2 Enterprise that is not reporting to the WSUS server. I have ran:

    wuauclt /reportnow

    wuauclt /detectnow

    wuauclt /resetauthorization

    I have also stop the WindowsUpdate service and then renamed the softwaredistribution folder and then re-ran the wuauclt commands. I can see the system in WSUS console. System was not made from an image. All other DC's do report.

    Would anybody have any other tips to try? Here is some other info I have ran on the system.

    If you have installed KB2720211 on your WSUS server, all the client machines having Windows update agent version 7.4.7600.226 are upgraded to 7.6.7600.256. But your machines have WUA Version 7.5.7601.17514, those machines are not upgrading to the latest version 7.6.7600.256.

    So Running the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) on that Win2008R2 server would be the first step.I guess you even did not patch your win2008r2 with SP1.Go to Microsoft.com and get the latest version of the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT), and run onsystems, and fix anything identified by the SURT.

    I will check the WSUS client versions on the other systems to see what they are at. 

    If my WSUS server has not had KB2720211 installed, should I install KB2720211 and the run SURT on the problem system?

    This system was upgraded from 2008 R2 standard to Enterprise, if that also sheds any light.

    _ I have verified that on my WSUS server that it does have KB2720211 installed. When looking at KB2720211 in the WSUS console is see that it is set to be installed on all systems. Is there a way to force this update if it has already been approved?

    Kb 2720211 is only needed on the WSUS server.You next step should focus on running the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) on that Win2008R2 server and check why your machines have WUA Version 7.5.7601.17514.

    Clarence,

    I have ran SURT on the DC. It did install KB947821. I checked for updates via the Windows Update icon and it has downloaded the 7.6.7600.256 client and about 25 updates from the WSUS server. It is reporting to the WSUS server also. This was the only system that had 7.4.7600.226 client. All other system that are on WSUS look good.

    If you have installed KB2720211 on your WSUS server, all the client machines having Windows update agent version 7.4.7600.226 are upgraded to 7.6.7600.256. But your machines have WUA Version 7.5.7601.17514, those machines are not upgrading to the latest version 7.6.7600.256.

    They weren't self-updating because they couldn't talk to the WSUS server.

    I guess you even did not patch your win2008r2 with SP1.

    Actually, the presence of the v7.5 WUAgent is proof that the machine does have Service Pack 1 -- it was the only way to get the v7.5 WUAgent.
