Group Chat Install, firewalls and CMS Access

    Frage

  •

I am working with a customer and the install of Group chat is stalling at the final step.

Doing a network trace the group chat server appears to be trying to connect to the SQL DB on which the CMS DB is installed. Unfortunately a firewall is blocking this.

Can anyone require on what the Group Chat server needs to connect to during the install.

    Thanks for any help

    Alistair

  • Hi Alistair,

The Group Chat Deployment Wizard is trying to reach out to the CMS so it can create a trusted application pool in the Lync topology. This is required so the Lync Front End pool can communicate with the Group Chat server so users can log into chat rooms.

You will need to allow access through the firewall from the Group Chat server to the CMS temporarily during installation so this can take place. You can remove this after the Group Chat server is successfully deployed, but you should make sure the Group Chat server can continue to contact the Lync Front End pool.

  • Hi,

Does it work when your firewall allows access between the group server and CMS DB?
