Lync IM encryption

    Question

  • 1. Lync IMs always go via front end. No IMs between client without server in the middle. - correct?

    2. Lync client-server traffic is always encrypted then how to disable TLS for IM and presence on internal network?

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg195673(v=ocs.14).aspx

Strictly internal traffic can use either TLS, in which case the instant message is encrypted, or TCP, in which case it is not. - How ?

    3. Lync IM to federated\PIC users - always encrypted -

Lync edge to federated partner - encrypted

Lync edge to Lync front end pool - encrypted

Lync front end to lync clinet - encrypted or unencrypted.
