Lync WebApp

    Question

  • Dear All,

    I want to know that:

    01. Is there anything we need to configure Lync WebApp for external users

    02. Or even meet.mydomain.com is a Lync WebApp

I have configured the Lync Server with external support but when ever I want to use CWA (like OCS 2007 R2), its not opening lync web app, but if I start meeting from any user's Lync login than I am able to join meeting, my question is this that can we use Lync web app without using meeting request directoly from web or not? And if yes than how it will be configured.

    Thanks in Advance.

  • Hi,

unfortunately Lync Web App does not have the same functionality as CWA used to and your experience is exactly what has been designed. One workaround is to deploy CWA on a member server and have it point to the Lync pool. In this way, your users will be able to use CWA to communicate with your Lync pool.

Not exactly optimal, but at least you can deploy IM / Presence functionality via the web.

Another option is to go for the Exchange 2010 / Lync 2010 Outlook Web App integration in order to add IM/Presence via OWA.

    hope this helps

  • Hi,

In order to enable External User access Lync Web App, you have to deploy reverse proxy server.

    More information:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398069.aspx

Lync Web App isn't a replacement of CWA. You can not use CWA to join meeting for Lync 2010.

Here's a document related on your point, I think it will help you understand more.

    Best Regards!

  • Hi,

I think George is talking about OCS 2007 R2's CWA, so deploy OCS 2007 R2 CWA and point it to Lync Pool.

  • Hi,

Explain me one thing, what is the functionality that you want?

CWA don't exists more, but with Lync integration with OWA i don't need it anymore.

    Cheers.

  • Please see the following to get a more clear understanding of when the Lync Web App is going to be used.

    Configure the Meeting Join Page

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398429.aspx

Have you deployed the reverse proxy so that external people receiving the meeting invites will be able to get to the meeting?

What exactly is our issue or question at this point?

    Thanks,

    Jazzy
