Lync New External Contact Add Requet

    Question

  • Hello-

Can you configure Lync so that when an External IM User wants to add an Internal Corporate Lync User the Internal User is prompted to approve that External Contact and add them to your Contact List?

Similar to how Windows Live Messenger users can approve or reject new users requests?

    Thanks,

    ExchangeFTW

  • Hi, ExchangeFTW,

In the case of IM invitations, the response depends on the client software. The request is accepted unless external senders are explicitly blocked by a user-configured rule (that is, the settings in the user’s client Allow and Block lists). Additionally, IM invitations can be blocked if a user elects to block all IM from users who are not on his or her Allow list.

Please refer to this document Configure Policies to Control Access by Users of IM Service Providers. And hope this helps.

  • Hello-

I set the attribute on my CsClientPolicy EnableNotificationForNewSubscribers to true and it seems that this change isn't causing Notification for New Subscribers to work. Is there something else I need to be setting to get Notifications for New Subscribers to pompt for approval before that IM Contact is allowed to IM my users?

    Server: Lync 2010

Deployed Roles: Front-end, Edge, Archiving, Monitoring, Group Chat.

    Thanks,
